OF EXTENSIVE SCALE, AT NEARLY 7 FOOT LONG, WITH ORIGINAL BLIND-TOOLED MOROCCAN RED LEATHER INSET TOP. THE WORKMANSHIP OF THIS TABLE IS OF SUCH HIGH QUALITY IT IS LIKELY THE WORK OF ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT MAKERS OF THE PERIOD, WORKING IN THE GOTHIC STYLE, SUCH AS BRIDGENS OR BULLOCK. THE HIDDEN INSET DRAWERS, SURROUNDING ALL FOUR SIDES, ARE INTRICATELY MOULDED AND PANELLED, WITH THE ARCHITECTURALLY FORMED DOUBLE-COLUMNED LEGS TERMINATING IN SOLIDLY MITRED FEET. THE OAK SURFACE PRESENTS A PALE, UNDERSTATED PATINA, FREE FROM HEAVY WAXING OR DEEP COLOURATION, RETAINING A QUIET SOFTNESS AND A LIGHTER EXPRESSION OF TIME — APPEALINGLY FADED ON DIFFERING SIDES FROM THE TREATMENT OF RAKING LIGHT, AS IF HAVING STOOD SOLIDLY IN ONE POSITION FOR A CONSIDERABLE LENGTH OF TIME. THIS TABLE IS UNDOUBTEDLY A UNIQUE, LARGE, AND RARE SURVIVAL FROM THE EARLY 19TH CENTURY GOTHIC REVIVAL.
